Chief Scientists’ meet of AICRP on Irrigation Water Management was organized during August 19-22, 2016 at Gwalior. Hon’ble Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister, Govt. of India and Chief Guest of the function emphasized the importance of water in boosting agricultural production and requested to farmers for growing more crop per drop of water. Hon’ble Smt. Maya Singh, Minister, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, presided the function. She emphasized on research for improving the quality of domestic and industrial sewage water. The Special Guest Dr. N.S. Rathore, DDG (Agricultural Education), ICAR, New Delhi said for doubling of the crop production by 2022 to bringing second green revolution. ADG (S&WM) Dr. S. K. Chaudhary stressed on increasing of nutrient use efficiency through efficient irrigation methodology. Dr. S.K. Ambast, Director, Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar highlighted the significant findings of AICRP on Irrigation Water Management and appreciated the contribution of scientists in improving the water productivity for higher crop yields. Prof. A. K. Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, RVSKVV, Gwalior in his address, thanked ICAR for selecting this University centre of AICRP-IWM for hosting this important meeting and expressed hope for developing newer technologies in water management.
