The Haryana Agricultural University came into existence on 2nd February 1970 through the 16th Act of Parliament, i.e., the Haryana and Punjab Agricultural Universities Act of 1970, to fulfill the mandates of teaching, research and extension of a comprehensive land grant institution. Prior to its becoming a full-fledged university the campus at Hisar was a part of the Punjab Agricultural University. The University received its present nomenclature, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU), as a result of amendment to the Haryana and Punjab Agricultural Universities Act (Haryana Amendment) in 1991 which received the assent of the President of India on 8th October 1991.

1.      17th All India Inter Agricultural Universities Sports & Games Meet 2016-17 was organized successfully from March 25-29, 2017 at Giri Centre of CCSHAU, Hisar after a gap of about 17 years. ICAR, New Delhi has entrusted CCSHAU, Hisar with the responsibility to organize 17th All India Inter Agricultural Universities Sports & Games Meet 2016-17. Souvenir was also published on this occasion. Sh.O.P. Dhankar, Minister of Agriculture, Development & Panchayats, Mines & Geology, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Fisheries, Government of Haryana was the Chief Guest, Dr. J.S. Sandhu, DDG, ICAR was the Guest of Honour and Prof. K.P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CCSHAU, Hisar presided over the inaugural function. A total of 57 Agricultural Universities and ICAR institutes participated in this mega event. CCSHAU won 13 Gold, 16 Silver and 06 Bronze medals in this competition. Overall championship for both Men and Women was won by our University. Mr. Suraj Bhan was declared Best Athletes in Men section and Ms. Arushi among women section. Both of these were from CCSHAU, Hisar. Prof. K.P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CCSHAU, Hisar was the Chief Guest on the valedictory function and he distributed the prizes to the winners.

 

CCSHAU, Hisar with PAU, Ludhiana and Dr. Balasaheb Sawan declared as joint 1st in Men Section. CCSHAU, Hisar with UAS, Bangalore were declared as joint 1st in Women Section. In Athletic Championship, CCSHAU, Hisar was declared as 1st in Men whereas UAS, Bangalore was 1st in Women, CCSHAU, Hisar was 1st in Kabaddi and 2nd in Football among Men Section. CCSHAU, Hisar was 2nd in Volleyball, TT and Badminton among Women Section in XVII All India Inter Agricultural Universities Sports & Games Meet 2016-17 held at CCSHAU, Hisar from March 25-29, 2017.

 

2.      Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University has been bestowed upon Sardar Patel Outstanding Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Award-2016 in recognition of its landmark achievements in teaching, research and extension. Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister, Mr. Radha Mohan Singh presented this award to CCSHAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K.P. Singh at the award function organised on the occasion of foundation day of the ICAR in New Delhi, In the award, Prof. K.P. Singh was presented a cheque of Rs. 10 lakh, a medal and a plaque.

 

3.      University has been conferred the Best Performing Main Centre Award 2015-16 for its outstanding contribution in Research and Development of Rapeseed-Mustard This is the second occasion in last four years that the University has won this Award. The Award was presented by Dr. J.S. Sandhu, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, New Delhi at the Annual Group Meeting of All India Rapeseed- Mustard Research Workers held at Mathura from August 05-07, 2016.

 

4.      University has been conferred the Best Performing Main Centre Award for the year 2015-16 for its outstanding contribution in Research and Development of Potential Crops at third Rabi Group Meet held at Forestry College, Mattuplayan, Coimbatore.

5.      Creation of state of art facilities such as video conferencing facility in all the four colleges located at the main campus of the university.

 

6.      Manuals/Instructional Materials for UG & PG students have facilitated improved delivery of course curriculum and helpful in better understanding among the students.

 

7.      Refresher courses and workshops have been attended by the faculty members of the University for strengthening and updating the skills and knowledge of the faculty.

 

8.      In Experiential Learning hands on training on product development through digital embroidery, designing and production of information material and bakery & confectionary is imparted to the final year students to prepare them for self employment and setting up entrepreneurial unit in digital embroidery, production of information material and bakery products.

 

9.      The equipments purchased out of ICAR Development Grant have been very helpful in teaching and research.
