The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences is one of the 13 faculties of Aligarh Muslim University, a premier Central University, established by Aligarh Muslim University Act of 1920. The University draws students from all corners of the country as well as from foreign countries especially Africa, west Asia and South- East Asia .In some courses, seats are reserved for students from SAARC and common wealth Countries.

The faculty established in August, 2000 has been evolved out of an Agricultural Centre established in 1984. This was later recognized as Institute of Agriculture in 1993. The Agriculture Centre was established with Universitys own resources to undertake teaching and research at M.Sc. level in eight subjects namely Plant Pathology, Entomology, Nematology, Horticulture, Soil Chemistry, Microbiology, Fertilizer Technology and Water Management. In 1992, ICAR agreed to support the establishment of an Institute of Agriculture at AMU, Aligarh with a promised development grant of Rs.2.6 crores during VII plan. According to MOU signed by ICAR and AMU, the university agreed to start P.G. teaching programs in the subjects of Agricultural Economics and Business Management, Plant Protection (Entomology and Plant Pathology/Nematology), Agricultural Microbiology and Post-Harvest Engg. & Technology.

In July 2000, the President of India, in his capacity as Visitor of University, approved the creation of the faculty with 4 departments (Agricultural Economics and Business Management, Plant Protection, Agricultural Microbiology and Post-Harvest Engg. & Technology) to teach above four subjects. During 2008 Section of Home Science in Womens College was merged with the Faculty of Agricultural, Sciences and evolved as Department of Home Science. Whereas, from 2017-2018 academic session, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture has also been introduced in the faculty on self-finance scheme with an intake of 30 students. The academic ordinances and curricula of this four-year professional degree course shall be according to Fifth Deans Committee Report of ICAR.

1.               Procurement of sophisticated instruments, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer for research work of PG students and Research Scholars.

2.               Improvisation of basic infrastructure and strengthening of PG and Research Laboratory.

4.               Judicious Utilization of funds for field visits and educational tour of students.

5.               Creation of Ramps for physically challenged students.

6.               Renovation of Smart Class rooms with all electrical gadgets.

7.               Renovation of Seminar Libraries with all infrastructural facilities for the students in two departments and also as centralized facility at faculty level.

8.               Computer and photocopying facility for students has been further strengthened.

9.               Developed novel low cost technology to produce bio pesticides.

10.            Examination cell has been properly developed.
