About the university

Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda was established on 2nd March 2010 under Uttar Pradesh Agriculture University Act (revised) 1958 Gazette-Adhiniyam 2010 for the development of the agriculture and allied sectors in Uttar Pradesh in general and Bundelkhand region of the state in particular. The University has jurisdiction over Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and Jalaun districts. University is committed to serve the Bundelkhand region with trinity concept, i.e. complete integration of teaching, research and extension for the development of agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors in order to ensure food security and enhance socio-economic status of inhabitants. Eleven Colleges dealing with Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science, Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Engineering & Technology, Agribusiness Management, Dairy Technology, Basic Sciences & Humanities, Food Science and Fisheries have been proposed in the master plan of the University. Among these, College of Agriculture and College of Horticulture are in operation. Two undergraduate degree programmes of four year duration namely B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture and B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture have been started in 2011. College of Forestry and College of Home Science are to be started shortly

Objective

The University is committed to the cause of Indian agriculture through its quality teaching, demand-driven and location-specific research and extension programmes in the light of dynamism of socio-economic and agro-ecological conditions, management perceptions, international trade scenarios and Government policies.

 

Achievements

 

During the financial year 2016-17, the sanction of ICAR Development Grant helped in following ways:

a.       Funds provided under EKTA web portal have helped us in procuring to Server and allied equipments to operate University local network and handling websites.

b.      The funds allocated under Solar System provided uninterrupted Green energy to eluminate the campus during the night.

c.       The funds allocated for Green Generators helped in teaching students in class and laboratories more effectively by ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

d.      The water quality in the university campus is not upto the marks and needs to be processed for use, therefore the budget provided has been used for recycling the water through central RO system. The water stored after purification has been utilized by the students and University employees. The water waste is being collected in the ponds for agriculture use.

e.      The organic waste of campus is being collected for conversion in the qualitative manure i.e. Vermicompost . The Vermicompost unit is being developed under ICAR grant for demonstration as well as experiential learning purpose.
