About the university

The University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences Shivamogga was carved out of University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru and University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkote. The head quarters of the University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (UAHS), located at Shivamogga. The Shivamogga campus was established in 1976 as a Regional Tobacco Research Station (RTRS) to take up the research on flue curved Virginia tobacco and elevated to the status of Regional Research Station (RRS) with an objective of conducting research on rainfed cropping system under NARP. During 1990 College of Agriculture was established for BSc. (Agri.) course as a part of realization of agricultural education under the control of UAS, Bangalore. In 2012 on the same campus a separate integrated university was established. The University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga (UAHS) is the first integrated university in the state of Karnataka, which has both agricultural and horticultural sciences under its purview. It was established under the Karnataka Act no. 38 of 2012, vide notification no. Sam. Vya. Sha. ilakhe, 19 Shasana 2012, dated 21-09-2012 published in the Special Gazette of Karnataka, part IV A, No. 656, on 21-09-2012 bringing it into immediate effect. With enactment of UAHS all the teaching institutions, research stations and extension education unit and Krishi Vigyana Kendras located in seven districts viz Shivamogga, Chikmagalur, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Davanagere and Chitradurga of Karnataka were transferred to the newly formed University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga. The process of separation of Teaching, Research and Extension establishments was initiated and the new University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga, came into independent existence on 1^st April 2013.

1. The grant has helped in procuring teaching aids which are useful to effectively deliver the curricula

2. The financial and camping facility support for RAWE programme has been very useful for undertaking filed studies in remote forest areas.

3. The Civil work support provided for renovation of facilities has augmented the grants provided by the other agencies in upgrading the infrastructural facilities

4. The equipments purchased under the developmental grants is very useful for undertaking studies by PG students and faculty.

5. The Kitchen equipments purchased for the Girls hostel has helped in preparation of quality food items at reasonable cost.

1. Our students achieved 7 JRF and 12 NTS (PG) with All India 1^st, 3^rd and 6^th rank, in addition our students also got ranks in the examination conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University and got admission to PG (Bio-technology) course with fellowship.

2. Organized inspirational and motivate lectures to the students and faculty for their capacity building.

3. Provided RO water facilities to the College and hostels (Boys and Girls).
