Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Republic of India, as Agriculture Education Day on 3 December every year. This year the ICAR institutes and Agricultural Universities; their colleges, Krishi Vigyam Kendras other research organisations across the country celebrated this day with joy and fervour. A number of programmes were organised at various places to mark the celebrations. Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare Sri Radha Mohan Singh was chief guest at Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar for the celebrations. Many dignitaries and eminent personality presided over various programme conducted across the country. There was a talk on the life of (Bharat Ratna) Dr Rajendra Prasad and his role in upliftment and development of agriculture education in India at most of the Universities. A number of activities were conducted on various topics of interest like; Awareness generation, Career counselling , Debate competition , Distribution of products and literature, Essay competition, Elocution completion, Exhibitions, Hands on experience, Interaction with students and Farmers, Launching of products, Lectures, Motivational Speech, Stake Holders Meet, Open discussion, Painting/ Fine Art Competitions, Paper Reading Competition, Declamation Contest, Plantations, Presentation related to Agriculture Education, Quiz Competition, Rangavali competition, Speech, Tree plantation, Visits of students and farmers to field, laboratories and museum, Group Song, Group Dance, One act Play, Kavi Sammelan etc. There was an overwhelming participation from the school and college students, farmers and the staff members. The participants expressed the views that the day may be celebrated with wider participation from various stake- holders.
