In response to letter of Deputy Director Education, ICAR, New Delhi dated November 20, 2020, the Agriculture Education Day was celebrated at all the constituent Colleges and Krishi Vigyan Kednras of Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur on Thursday, December 3, 2020 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Minister of Agriculture, Government of India and the first President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
The main objective to celebrate the Agricultural education day was to strengthen the future of agriculture in India, it is important to attract and encourage youngsters towards the agriculture sector. Young generation must be given training about agricultural education in India. And this may require massive awareness programmes among the youth focusing on various facets of agriculture and related subjects.
The celebration also exposed various aspects of agriculture and its significance in the country's growth and development. On this day, an attempt is made to inspire and motivate school students towards farming so that they could develop some interest in this field.
At the University level 3876 students representing 108 schools at 23 districts under the jurisdiction were sensitized towards agriculture education.
