About the university

Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV), Jabalpur was established in 1964, as the biggest multicampus university, with an approach to narrow down the gap between the experts and farmers, through Joint Indo-American Team on Agricultural Research and Education in 1954-55 and 1959-60 on the patterns of Land Grant Colleges of USA. In subsequent years, the University had to part with its area of jurisdiction due to creation of sister universities- Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya at Raipur in 1987, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior in 2008 and Nanaji Deshmukh Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur in 2009. The Central Administrative Office of the University is located about 7 km North of Jabalpur town on National Highway No. 7. At present, JNKVV encompasses six Colleges of Agriculture (Jabalpur, Rewa, Tikamgarh, Ganjbasoda, Waraseoni and Powarkheda); one College of Agricultural Engineering (Jabalpur); four Zonal Agricultural Research Stations (Jabalpur, Powarkheda, Tikamgarh and Chhindwara); four Regional Agricultural Research Stations (Rewa, Sagar, Dindori and Waraseoni); four Agricultural Research Stations (Naugaon, Garhakota, Sausar and Tendini) and twenty Krishi Vigyan Kendras representing six agro-climatic zones spread over 25 districts. JNKVV has produced capable human resource for managing the activities of agriculture and allied sectors, and the need based research and its rapid dissemination has led to several improved technologies, which have played vital role for augmented production and productivity of crops on sustainable basis at state and national level. The area covered by the University is not only large but also diversified. Since its establishment the University has made praiseworthy progress and has come to the expectations of the people of the State by extensively benefiting the farming community. The performance of the University is imitated by the KRISHI KARMAN AWARD received by the State of Madhya Pradesh consecutively FIFTH time.

Objective

To impart education, research and extension activities effectively for enhancing production, productivity and profitability of agriculture and allied systems in a sustainable manner.

Achievements

1.      Laboratories of all the five accredited colleges were strengthened for keeping the labs equipped with the latest equipments for smooth conduct of UG and PG practicals .The grant was utilized for replacement and up-gradation of laboratory facilities, which were either outdated or have lived their life and were required to be urgently replaced to impart quality education.

2.      Video conferencing system has installed in all the five accredited colleges for initiation of concept of CHHARTRON se BAAT.

3.      Seventeen practical manuals were developed as per the syllabus of Fifth Deans Committee. These manuals would be distributed among students for upgrading their knowledge and smooth conduct of practicals.

4.      The Student READY programme has been implemented during the season 2016-17, in all the colleges. During the year, total 409 final year students of B.Sc (Ag) & B Tech. have placed under the jurisdiction of different ZARS,RARS and KVKs of the Vishwaviddalya for bringing professionalism and practical work experience in real life situations to graduates. These programmes would build confidence, facilitate skill development through experiential learning so they become job providers rather than job seekers.

5.      Sport facilities were strengthened in the colleges to enhance learning accountability, dedication, leadership and many other traits in students.

6.      Two manuals viz., Manual for RAWE & AIA and Student READY were developed to reorient graduates of agriculture for ensuring and assuring employability and develop entrepreneurs for emerging knowledge intensive agriculture. The designated RAWE teachers will also be benefited in implanting Student READY programme successfully as per the new syllabus of Vth Deans Committee of ICAR.

7.      One hundred and eighteen faculties were sent to participate in National Symposium/ Workshop/ Seminar/ meetings and Specific National level trainings to abreast with current developments in Science & Technology and have adequate knowledge and expertise in cutting edge technologies for improving quality of education.

8.      Student study and educational tours were organized and students were sent to well-known institutions and organizations for exposure and interactions with their faculties. The tours would definitely help students in broadening their knowledge and skills.

9.      Creation of Parking facilities in girls & boys hostel, fixing of Collepsible steel shutter & alluminium partition work in Girls hostel, Provision of Channel gate, roof treatment and creation of open drain around the building area of boys hostel at College of Agriculture, Ganj Basoda.

10.  Renovation of existing girls hostel, strengthening of existing approach road to girls hostel, White / Colour wash inside & outside of Boys and Girls Hostel including putty maintenance and approach connectivity of main road from Boys Hostel at College of Agriculture, Tikamgarh.
