About the university

 

The University has been imparting education in agriculture and other allied branches of learning through its 9 colleges, 23 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and through organizing trainings in its various establishments and also in collaboration with developmental agencies such as government, banks, non-government agencies etc. For site and location specific research, the University maintains 6 Regional Agricultural Research Stations (RARS), 5 commodity research stations. These research stations and units carry out activities for furthering the advancement of learning and execution of research in agriculture and other allied sciences. Besides, it also imparts trainings to persons engaged in developmental activities through an Extension Education Institute (EEI) of Govt. of India attached to the university.

Objective

1.      Provide quality education and training in the areas of agriculture and allied sciences.

2.      Undertake basic, applied and adaptive research relevant to the needs of the farmers and entrepreneurs of Assam.

3.      Transfer the technologies to the stakeholders, particularly, farmers for increasing the production, productivity and income to ultimately improve the socio-economic conditions of the people, and

 

Achievements

1.      New/ renovated hostels in different faculties thus positioning the University as the one having best students accommodation facility in the state.

2.      Renovations of different labs and its strengthening with equipments etc, thus making the labs conducive for advanced research.

3.      Creation of sports / canteen etc facilities that have built competence to host programmes like Agri-Unifest.

4.      The support from ICAR helped in faculty improvement programmes through participation in Symposia / Seminars that have injected modern education values in them.

5.      Student placement by ICAR from different parts of the country / abroad in the University has led to the creation of competitive teaching / learning ambience besides the opportunity to exchange scientific / cultural views among the students and other staff.
