About the university

Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya (CGKV) was established on 11th April, 2012 with promulgation of the Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2011 (No. 21 of 2011). Since its inception as separate university, it has now been expanded manifolds imparting teaching, research and extension through its colleges located throughout the state, Research Centres, Veterinary Polytechnics and Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The jurisdiction of CGKV is the entire state of Chhattisgarh State situated in Eastern India consisting of 27 districts covering three different agro-climatic zones, viz., Chhattisgarh Plain, Northern Hill Region and Bastar Plateau. The State of Chhattisgarh pledges welfare of vast majority of its people, with social justice and equal opportunity to all. The livestock sector within Agriculture sector intends to build a dynamic livestock economy in the state leading to improved employment, increased economy, food security and food self-sufficiency for its people. The mission of the Vishwavidyalaya is to customize an integrated approach for all round development of Livestock, Dairy, Poultry and Fisheries through imparting quality education, intense research and development for innovative technology generation and extension of technologies to the end users for sustainable productivity to augment and garner a dynamic livestock economy for the state. Under CGKV, two Veterinary Colleges, One Dairy College, one Fisheries College, four Veterinary Polytechnics, one Animal Biotechnology Centre, one Wild life Health and Forensic Centre and one Kamdhenu evam Panchgavya Anusandhan evam Vistar Kendra are running in all over the state.

Achievements

1.            University and Colleges have created Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) by using ICAR development grant. Since individual researchers may not be able to generate huge research funds for the research instruments. Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) is established with a mission to enrich the resources on a shared basis for promoting research and development. Under CIF various instruments have purchased and are being used. For the first time, students got demonstration of HRM technology by Real Time PCR machine which is purchased in this year. Theseequipments and facilities help the faculty and research students to carry out competitive research and development in Basic and applied Veterinary sciences.

2.            Purchasing of CCTV camera and installation at various places including classes which reduces the ragging and other illegal activities.

3.            Colleges under University have developed modern, well equipped and well-furnished e-class rooms. Each class room is having LCD display, public address system, cushioned desks for students, cooling systems etc. Development of e-class rooms helped to create conducive environment for undergraduate learning.

4.            Strengthening of the Library in terms of online, easy & fast accessibility of Library Materials through KOHA integrated with RFID, text books, internet/Wi-F facility, modern books, Journals, link of college/university library with ICAR and other university which are attractingstudents to help in their academic and research activities.

5.            Students tours are organizing across the India by which students are getting knowledges in their field

6.            Fire extinguisher were also purchased in this year to reduce the threatens of fire.

7.            To strengthen UG & PG teaching faculties were allowed to participate in different symposia, seminars and training (CAS/CAFT) within country. Human resource development for technical and administrative staff were also done.

8.            The amount was also utilized for certain repair works, refurnishing, renovation and modernization of educational structure/infrastructure and other work related to teaching and learning. Some of the instruments were also repaired.

9.            The amount was also spent on developing students and faculty amenities, personality development, counselling of students, educational technology, examination cell and the faculty specific requirements in improving education and development and strengthening of facilities.

10.        The amounts received were utilized as per the guidelines of the ICAR for curriculum development and delivery that include preparation of quality instructional material, practical manuals, e-resource, besides strengthening of UG & PG teaching.
